Effects of Job Embeddedness and Leader-member Exchange on Organizational Commitment of Clinical Nurses

Abstract

|
Objectives: The study was aimed to investigate the effects of job embeddedness and leader-member exchange on organizational commitment of clinical nurses.
Method: Data were collected by self-administered questionnaire from 9th to 13th March, 2015. Respondents were 250 clinical nurses working in a tertiary university-based hospitals in Seoul, Korea. We analyzed 245 subjects using SPSS 21.0 version program.
Results: Job embeddedness and leader-member exchange were significantly influenced to organizational commitment of clinical nurses. Sacrifice, subfactor of job embeddedness, was significantly positive effect on subfactors of organizational commitment such as identification, attachment, and continuous service. Contribution, subfactor of leader-member exchange, was significantly positive effect on identification. Loyalty, subfactor of leader-member exchange, was significantly positive effect on continuous service.
Conclusions: Hospital management strategy to improve nurses¡¯ job embeddedness and leader-member exchange could be effective to enhance organizational commitment of clinical nurses.
